Passive House in planning, approval granted
This project is RDA Architects’ first passive house. The environmentally friendly, contemporary, new build three bedroom house aims to not only be a certified passive house but also to be carbon neutral. Currently a double garage sits on this corner plot amidst late Victorian houses in West London.
The house has been designed over three floors with excavation of the site to create the lower ground floor, sunken garden and courtyard. Large glazed areas and skylights have been used to optimize solar gains and to bring light into the building and the house has a sedum roof. The house uses contemporary materials and will be white rendered with wood cladding and timber fins.
The house has partial upside down living with two bedrooms on the lower ground floor, a kitchen, living space and small terraced area on the ground floor and a third bedroom on the first floor.
