The Dulwich House

The project was an original late Victorian/early Edwardian house within the Dulwich Estate & Southwark conservation area. The house required a tremendous amount of work as it had suffered with a serious case of subsidence. The front facade was historic and was photographed in detail prior to a full demolition of an existing building. The replacement was rebuilt with a partial basement and a volume more than double that of the original footprint.

The historical aspects were replicated, yet the interior brings in a soft, modern, contemporary feel. The house itself was constructed with ecology in mind; featuring SIPs panels, triple glazed windows, well insulated walls, a Mechanical Ventilation Heat Recovery System and solar panels.

RDA were involved in the design, construction & interior design coordination phases of the project, from start to completion, alongside the client.
