Artist's Courtyard

Combining development on a small brownfield site with exemplary environmental credentials, this project creates two houses for our client – one a home, the other a flexible dwelling for family, guests or rental. 

Both buildings have been designed to Passivhaus standards, which will reduce living costs by around 95%. Active heating systems with yearly bills will be replaced by thicker more efficient insulation and sustainable construction with a one-off charge. Retaining warm air in the winter, and ensuring cool spaces with air-flow during the summer months. 

The focus on air quality creates a comfortable internal environment which has a positive effect on the health and wellbeing of occupants. Our design references the industrial warehouses that the scheme replaces, pairing strong forms, brickwork and perforated Corten steel.
